Information We Collect

We collect the minimum data necessary to provide Verity's dictation and transcription service.

• Audio data: Captured only during active dictation sessions. Audio is streamed to Verity-operated servers, transcribed, and discarded immediately. It is never sent to a third-party AI provider, never retained, and never used for model training.
• Transcript data: If you have an account, transcripts may be encrypted and stored to enable history and cross-device sync. You control this in settings.
• Account data: Email address, hashed password, and subscription status (if applicable).
• Usage data: Aggregate, anonymized usage metrics (session counts, error rates) for product improvement. No transcript content is included.

How We Use Your Information

We use collected data solely to provide and improve Verity:

• Process your speech into text via our STT pipeline
• Store and retrieve your transcript history (if enabled)
• Manage your account and subscription
• Diagnose errors and improve transcription accuracy

We do not use transcript content to train AI models. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties except as described in this policy.

External Services

Speech-to-text inference, AI polish, database storage, and authentication all run on Verity-provisioned infrastructure. We operate and control the full software stack — models, data pipelines, database, and authentication — and no audio, transcript, or account data is sent to a third-party AI API provider. The services below are the only external parties involved:

• Amazon Web Services (AWS) — Underlying cloud infrastructure: compute, storage, networking, and observability for the Verity-operated stack. Hosted in the United States. AWS supplies the infrastructure; it does not operate the models or access data independently of Verity. EU/EEA and UK transfers rely on the EU Commission Standard Contractual Clauses.

Sub-processors

We name every external service that touches your data. Audio for transcription is processed under zero-retention contracts.

Data Retention

Audio data is never retained. Transcripts are retained only as long as you maintain an account. When you delete your account, all transcript data is permanently deleted within 30 days.

Account data (email, subscription status) is retained until account deletion and for 90 days thereafter to resolve disputes and comply with legal obligations.

Your Rights

You have the following rights with respect to your personal data:

• Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Deletion: Request deletion of your account and all associated data.
• Portability: Export your transcript history in a machine-readable format.
• Correction: Update inaccurate account information at any time via your account settings.

How We Compare

Most dictation tools publish vague privacy policies. Here is how Verity's data practices compare to other dictation tools:

Cookies

Verity uses one cookie: an authentication session token (essential — keeps you signed in).

We do not use tracking cookies, analytics cookies, advertising cookies, or any third-party cookies. Your browser's built-in cookie controls work as expected — blocking cookies will sign you out. There is no cookie banner because there is nothing to consent to.
